Blurr and Chromedome's leg transformations are a good example of this as most of the Combiner Wars cars used the same basic transformation.Īs far as gimmicks go, I really liked having a lot of decent combiners. And it is very easy to see a lot of the same transformation engineering in Titans Return that we saw in Combiner Wars. the Titans Return figures really aren't all that more complex than most Combiner Wars toys were. Some Transformer's toys transformations have become too complex IMO and I saw Combiner Wars as a step to return to simpler transformation while still keeping good looking bot and alt modes.Īlso. The simplistic transformations on the Combiner Wars figures didn't bother me and in fact I kinda liked it. I dunno, I've enjoyed both lines quite a bit. I think those Ravage/Stripes and Laserbeak/Buzzsaw molds are absolutely terrible. But for now, I'm really enjoying and can't wait for Wave 3.ĮDIT: And not everything about the Titans Return line is great. I wonder if that feeling will change over time as certain molds get overused. I've been pleasantly surprised with the line thus far.
On a whim, I bought one of the Titan Masters (Clobber) and eventually bought all the rest. I felt the integrity of my beloved G1 characters was being abused.īut the play value has been fantastic. I initially didn't like the idea of turning everyone into a Headmaster. However, the Titans Return line has really impressed me. But still, the repetitiveness was too much for me and I eventually sold all the Combiner figures I owned. Now I understand that the transformation needed to be this way to serve its dual purpose of limbs and stand-alone robots. But the transformation of all the limbs were so simplistic and I lost interest rather quickly. When Combiner Wars first released, I was really excited. What are your thoughts on comparing the two lines?
